What's confirmed

6 sourced facts

  • UDISE+ 2024-25 records 38,355 Bihar government schools teaching Grade VI and above, of which 7,240 have an ICT lab, 9,360 have a smart classroom and 32,923 have internet connectivity.
  • Against national figures of 33.8% for ICT labs, 46.4% for smart classrooms and 65.9% for internet, Bihar is well below on the first two and well above on the third.
  • For FY 2025-26, 1,459 ICT labs and 6,113 smart classrooms were approved for Bihar, and 627 of each were approved in 2024-25 for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
  • The Bihar tenant of the DIKSHA platform reports 12.23 lakh registered users, about 15,083 average daily active users over three months, 50.02 crore sessions, 621.73 crore learning minutes, 268 digital textbooks and 7,121 e-content items.
  • Bihar was allotted five PM eVidya television channels, numbered BR PM eVIDYA 63 to 67.
  • The reply was asked specifically about AI-based education in Bihar. It names no Bihar-specific AI programme, curriculum, teacher-training number or AI lab count. Every AI item it names is a nationwide feature available in Bihar rather than a Bihar initiative.

5 open questions

  • How many of the approved ICT labs, smart classrooms and fibre connections have actually been delivered. The approvals above are targets.
  • The question's own premise gave materially different figures from the ministry's answer, most starkly about 16% internet connectivity against the ministry's 85.8%. Both are recorded here with separate attribution and neither is preferred.
  • The DIKSHA usage figures are platform statistics reported by the ministry rather than audited measures of learning, and are recorded as a government claim in substance.
  • Whether any Bihar-specific AI curriculum exists in schools. A separate Rajya Sabha question of 5 August 2026 asked outright for the number of AI and robotics labs in Bihar and whether one AI School of Excellence per district was proposed, and the reply answered neither, deflecting to state responsibility.
  • Bihar's share of the 570 Data and AI labs under the national IndiaAI FutureSkills programme. No state-wise breakdown has been given to Parliament.
