- It began teaching in 2009 from the BIT Patna campus with a master's programme in Development Studies (2021-22 prospectus).
- The 2021-22 prospectus lists an M.Sc in Computer Science (45 seats), an M.Sc in Statistics (45 seats) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science, and no master's in AI or data science.
- Second-semester results for the 2024-26 batch were notified on 27 June 2025 (M.Sc Data Science and Applied Statistics) and 2 July 2025 (M.Sc Artificial Intelligence), so both programmes admitted a batch in 2024.
